IQOS Dubai Airport Travel Guide: What Users Should Know

Using or smoking IQOS inside open public areas or terminals at Dubai International Airport (DXB) is strictly prohibited. However, adult travelers are allowed to carry their IQOS devices and tobacco sticks through airport security in their hand luggage.

To use your device legally while waiting for a flight, you must use designated airport smoking lounges located after security checkpoints across Terminals 1, 2, and 3.

Technical & Regulatory Justification: Airport Rules Explained

Navigating Dubai Airport with heat-not-burn devices requires following civil aviation safety rules and UAE tobacco laws:

• Carry-On Luggage Requirement: IQOS devices contain lithium-ion batteries. Aviation safety regulations require all battery-powered devices to be kept inside hand luggage, not checked bags.
• Vapor Laws in Public Terminals: UAE laws regulate heated tobacco aerosol under standard smoking regulations. Using your device in open seating areas or near gates will lead to fines.
• Designated Airport Lounges: DXB terminals feature ventilated smoking lounges equipped with smoke extractors. These are the only indoor spaces where device usage is permitted.

Which Setup Best Suits Your Travel Needs?

Choosing the right device setup for your journey depends on your travel routine:

• Choose IQOS Iluma i Standard if: You face long flight layovers. Its built-in Pause Mode lets you stop heating for up to 8 minutes if you need to catch a boarding announcement.
• Choose IQOS ILUMA One if: You want a lightweight travel unit. It fits easily into small passport pouches without requiring a separate charger dock.
• Choose IQOS ILUMA Prime if: You want high-end styling and luxury protection for your device while traveling through business lounges.
• Keep Older Models (e.g., IQOS 3 DUO) if: You prefer classic devices that use blade-style refills like IQOS Heets during your trips.

Key Rules for Flying with IQOS at DXB

Following these simple airport guidelines will ensure a smooth, hassle-free security check:

1. Security Screening Procedure

Place your holder and charger dock in the security tray alongside your laptop and electronics. Airport scanners inspect lithium batteries closely.

2. Allowance Limits for Tourists

Tourists entering Dubai are allowed to carry personal tobacco quantities within standard UAE customs limits. Pack your unopened packs in your carry-on for easy access.

3. Zero In-Flight Usage

Using heated tobacco devices inside an aircraft is strictly prohibited by international aviation law. Keep your device powered off throughout your flight.
